Monthly Wine Writing Challenge Reminder

Even though I am not the “official” host of Monthly Wine Writing Challenge 8 (#MWWC8), I like to think of myself as the Challenge’s “Goodwill Ambassador.” Thus, consider this a “friendly” reminder to get your butt in gear and get writing! Perhaps this month’s theme “Luck” does not particularly “speak” to you and you are finding it difficult to come up with a post. Maybe you have been incredibly busy hosting your Uncle Cletus who showed up on your doorstep three weeks ago and has been drinking your cellar dry ever since. Then again, you could just be a lazy son-of-a -female-dog and were planning on writing it this weekend (like me).

Regardless of your reason(s), as far as I can tell, there have only been six seven ten twelve thirteen entries thus far (please let me know if that is not the case and I will be sure to include you here):

binNotes: The Winemaker | A Cautionary Tale

Connoisaurus: Luck, it’s all your fault

Duff’s Wines: Wanna Get Lucky?

The Family Nose: Luck, chance…or fate?

The Indian Paradox: Wine, Bahjji and…Luck?!

Joy of Wine: All the Blessings in the World

My Custard Pie: Luck or judgement?

Oenophilogical: The Luck Of The Draw

renenutet13: Wish me luck as you serve me Tokaji

The Sybarite: Luck

twelvedollartastebuds: The Long and Winding Post

The Wine Raconteur: Luck…Be a Lady Tonight

Wine Ramblings: A Tale of Two Harrys

As good as these two are, two total posts is a far cry from what you have produced in the previous challenges. I know we are all busy, but it is after all called a “Challenge!” It is not called a “Walk in the Park”, a “Breeze”, or a “Lay-up” it is a “Challenge” and the idea is to take you a bit out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself as a writer. As a good friend once told me: “When you are a writer, the most important thing you can do is write–even if you are not inspired, even if it is the last thing you want to do. You must force yourself to write and the ideas will come.”

So get out there and write!

For those unfamiliar with “the rules” of the challenge, those can be found on this month’s official host, The Sweet Sommelier. Remember, the deadline for submission is this Sunday (March 22nd)!

[Actually, none of the above knew that I would be writing this post, but I thought that an inclusive statement would be better than the public shaming that I had planned originally.]

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

Hey! I wrote an entry. I sent a link to it in the comments of the last post you had about this. Maybe the comment got spammed out because I included a link. Please check my blog because I am entered! I will let Sweet Sommelier know as well!

Reblogged this on Talk-A-Vino and commented:
The time left to connect luck and wine in potentially award-winning epistolary exercise is getting very short… You have less than a week to submit your lucky entry for #MWWC8, so get to that keyboard and start pounding, errr, I meant, typing…

  6. Jeff,
Maybe it is luck, that I was missed, but then my ramblings are easy to miss. Your noble endeavors to keep us all loosely united is greatly appreciated.

  11. I procrastinated, but I put one out there. I commented and email The Sweet Sommelier, since I usually have issues commenting on Blogspot sites. Luck was one category I thought I could actually write about!
