A Sunday for Nathan

Usually every Sunday, I recount a story about my son Sebastian who, ever since he was able to speak, has the ability to utter some of the funniest one-liners without even knowing  it. As many of you know, Sebastian’s older brother, Nathan, is a fabulous kid and does not get the recognition he deserves.

He is witty, funny, and one of the most intelligent kids I have ever known (yes, I am biased, but I was also a high school teacher for ten years, so there is some basis for that claim). And, as you can tell from the photo below, he is one handsome devil (luckily, he gets his looks from his mother).

Today is Nathan’s fourteenth birthday and even though he is going through some tough teenage situations (choosing a high school, wondering why his “friends” think he is “weird”, experiencing his first relationship rejection, etc.) he sure did make his father proud when he said all he wanted for his birthday was a new bike.

So Happy Birthday Nathan! You are truly one-of-a-kind and your mother and I would not have it any other way….

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

Being 14 in a new school is likely to carry some challenges, but surely with such family to surround you, there is nothing that can’t be gotten over ^^

  7. Happy birthday Nathan! Hang in there, 14 is a tough age. It will all get better in a few years. Just remain true to who you are.
