Independence Day

Happy Independence Day!

I hope everyone can put aside differences for today and celebrate the freedoms that we all share.

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

It’s appalling how conservatives can ruin the meaning of freedom for us. I am a proud American, and I believe in our Constitution. But also, I believe in Steely Dan. There are those who’d like to deprive me of my First Amendment rights — which is just wrong. I know, I’m beating a dead horse… I once had a prof named Grant McKernie, who memorized all of our names. He said that if he ever forgot a name, then he’d give that student an automatic A for the course. Poor guy was gay, and his gay friends were dying all around him. McKernie was probably the best professor I ever had. He was so organized… Anyway, I’m rambling. Have a great holiday, Cyclist.
