Monthly Wine Writing Challenge #34–The Results

The results are in

My string of good luck when it comes to good weather while traveling has hit a snag. It is a dreary, rainy, rather unfortunate day here in the heart of Burgundy. I guess it is good that I will be inside most of the day with tastings. That means I am leaving my wife to deal with my two boys, captive in the apartment here in the middle of Dijon. Not very chivalrous.

But that is not why you are reading this post today. No, you want me to skip the seemingly incessant drivel about the weather and my shortcomings as a medieval knight and get to the point: Who won this month’s Challenge?

Well, there were eventually eleven entries this month, a significant increase (38% for those wondering) from last month. There was also a significant increase in the number of votes cast (more than double). So what does that mean? I have stopped trying to figure it out.

It was not difficult to figure out the winner this month, however, since he garnered over 60% of the vote.

So with no further ado…

And-the-Winner-IsRed, White and Cru: Why Wine is Good for Your Brain (And Not for the Reason You Might Think)

This now marks the sixth consecutive Challenge that we have had a first time winner, and as the winner, Erik, has the honor/responsibility/task/burden of choosing the theme for next month’s Challenge.* As is normally the case, I now mention that I hope to have the next Challenge up and running by this time next week, in the hopes of gently urging Erik to get over the unbridled joy of winning quickly.

Congratulations Erik!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
