When you read this, I will likely be trying to stay awake for another couple of hours so that I will sleep through the night. I will be in Prague in the Czech Republic for a few days with my lovely wife before we head south to Budapest. As I do when I am on the road, I repost a previous Sundays Are For Sebastian. This was the second ever such entry, when Seba was four….
A couple of weeks ago, I started a new weekly theme: Sundays are for Sebastian. Sebastian is my four-year-old son and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother are rather boring serious people. Nonetheless, here is another gem:
Sebastian’s competitiveness (he must get it from his mother) manifests itself in many ways. Yesterday it came out during carpool with his schoolmate, Katy, as they were trying to decide who had the better parents:
Katy: “How old is your dad?”
[Both fathers are the same age: Draw]
Seba: “How old is your mom?”
[Seba’s mom is two years younger, thus a “loss” for Sebastian (but not for his mom, of course)]
Seba: “Well my dad is bigger than your dad!”
Katy: “Well my mom is bigger than your mom!”
Pause.
Seba: “Well, my dad is straight!”
At this point, my wife panicked a bit, not knowing what to do. She asked for clarification.
Seba: “Daddy’s straight!”
Pause.
“Not FAT like Katy’s dad!”
My wife then did what every responsible parent should do.
She made Sebastian feel bad enough about his comments that he began to cry.
