Sundays Are For Sebastian #284

Sebastian is my eleven-year-old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

I was cleaning up the kitchen before starting dinner–a daily activity since our boys are hyper-averse to cleaning up after themselves. Instead of “explaining” to them once again my expectation, I noticed a peculiar item on the counter that caused me to pause and reinforce potentially good behavior. I had recently purchased a bag of mini-cucumbers as a potential snack.

Me: “Sebastian did you try those mini cucumbers? Pretty good, huh?!”

Sebastian: “Um…”

Me: “I saw that you took them out, you didn’t have any??”

Sebastian: “I just took them out to get to the cake.”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
