Sundays Are For Sebastian Revisited (#240)

I am out of town again this week, first in San Diego as a wine judge for the Critics Challenge and then to Austin for another basketball tournament. As I usually do when I am out of town, I revisit a Sundays Are For Sebastian, our fourteen-year-old soon-to-be sophomore in high school(!). This one comes from four years ago when he was ten.

Sebastian is my ten-year-old and says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather dull, serious people.

As mentioned, I often quiz the boys on various topics, and Nathan is particularly fond of this practice. He pretty much wants me to query him every minute that he is awake.

Sebastian, too, likes the “game” but only when he knows the answer.

On one particular occasion, I was quizzing Nathan on presidents of the United States. Sebastian walked into the room and wanted to join in, so I thought I would throw him a softball….

Me: “Who was the third president?”

Sebastian, without hesitation and with considerable confidence: “George Matthews.”

And then he promptly left the room.

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
