Sundays Are For Sebastian Revisited (#214)

This weekend I am back on the road, this time in Columbus, Ohio with my younger son, Sebastian. Yesterday, we attended a football game and today we will visit a couple of smaller schools in the area, hoping it will spark an interest in him to start thinking about college (he is a sophomore in high school). As I usually do while on the road, I revisit a previous Sundays Are For Sebastian. This edition is from six years ago when Sebastian was nine.

Sebastian is my nine-year-old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

Shortly after moving to Texas, we discovered the fast-food restaurant, Whataburger. Trying to adapt to our new city, we visited the establishment but were a bit overwhelmed by the number of options available. We opted to each get a different item and share, hoping to determine our favorites.

We sat down at a table, and we started discussing the food, and what other items we should try. After Nathan and I offered our thoughts, Sebastian chimed in….

Seba: “I think I want to try the A-Vach-Ay-Doo burger.”

Nathan: “Huh?”

Me: “Yeah, huh?”

Seba: “The A-Vach-Ay-Doo burger, it looks pretty good.”

As he finished his sentence, he flipped around a stand-up advertisement that was on the table, which had a picture of the new, limited time only, Avocado Burger.

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
