Sundays Are For Sebastian Revisited (#38)

This weekend I am back on the road, this time in Washington, D.C. with my lovely wife. I trained down yesterday from New York City, where I was in town for the Wine Spectator New York Wine Experience. As I usually do while on the road, I revisit a previous Sundays Are For Sebastian. This edition is from ten years ago when Sebastian was five.

Several months ago, I started a new weekly theme: Sundays Are For Sebastian. Sebastian is my five-year-old and says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

Last year during this same week, we were out in Seattle visiting my wife’s sister. We rented two boats one afternoon and took them out in Seattle Harbor. The 16 members of the extended family split up into two boats. We pull out in the first boat, for our two-hour ride. We wait several minutes but do not see the other boat behind us. I say to my wife: “Where are they?”

The ever-competitive Sebastian interjects: “Maybe they sinked!”

Pause.

He then raises both arms and exclaims:

“That means we win!”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
