Sundays Are For Sebastian #378

Sebastian is our fifteen-year-old son and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

Every Monday, I try to make something for dinner that does not contain meat, thus trying to reduce a bit of stress on the planet. I have recently started to make Macaroni and Cheese from scratch and it quickly became a favorite for both of the boys (particularly for Meatless Monday). In order to pretend that there is some nutritional value to the dish, I add sautéed cauliflower to the Mac and Cheese.

Me (to my wife): “What do you think about the cauliflower?”

My wife: “I like it, a lot.”

Me (again, to my wife): “Do you think I should try broccoli?”

Sebastian, interjecting: “Yes! Use broccoli instead!’

Me (wanting to reward any interest in vegetables): “OK! I’ll do that next time, you like broccoli more?”

Seba: “No, but it would be easier to pick it out than cauliflower.”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
