For those who have ever been in Houston during the month of March, they likely know that it means “Rodeo” in the city. For the better part of the month, there is a rodeo at NRG Stadium followed by a concert every night. The grounds around the stadium are transformed into a carnival, including several wine gardens where many of the winners of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Wine Competition are available for consumption.
For the last eight years, I have been a judge for the competition (dubbed “Rodeo Uncorked”) and every time I attend the Rodeo (yes, I have been several times and I am planning on attending tonight, too), I make sure to arrive a bit before the start of that evening’s rodeo and swing by the Wine Garden.
In this month’s article, I describe the process of being a judge in the competition, which has become one of the nation’s largest. Check it out and let me know what you think!
