My September Article is Out!

We are already a few days into September here in Houston, and it has already started to cool off a bit, which is quite a relief. I spent the entire summer here in the Bayou City (save a couple of quick trips to New York and Portland, OR) and the heat has been stifling.

Since moving here to Houston, September has always brought with it significant relief but it usually takes until the latter half of the month until any significant temperature decreases are realized.

Another reason to celebrate September, and one that is heralded all over the country, is the return of football to the national stage. Yes, I am an unabashed football fan, both the college and professional versions, and the season for both is now underway.

This past weekend, was a particularly entertaining one as all three of my favorite teams: the Philadelphia Eagles, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and whoever is playing Michigan, all won this past weekend.

While I am known to have an occasional beer (if by “occasional” you mean once every other month) while watching the game, I am much more likely to pop open a bottle of wine to cheer on my Bucks, Birds, and opponents of the Bums (which I realize comes as a shock to no one).

So, for this month’s article, I decided to put forth my game-day ritual when it come to deciding which wines to drink (and when) as the game unfolds.

Here is the article from Spring Branch Plus:

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
