These last several weeks have been a bit of a blur. I came back from France in the middle of October and since then I have been running non-stop it seems. My surge in activity has nothing to do with this blog or even with wine; it has everything to do with basketball.
Two weeks before the start of the school year, the head basketball coach at my son’s school unexpectedly quit. After going 26-110 (yes, you read that right, he won a whopping 19% of his games), he left the school, thank goodness.
For the last seven years of his tenure, I was the J.V. coach at the school and got to witness firsthand what a complete disaster this “coach” was. Had he come back, I would have quit.
Enough about that (at least for now). What has me running around all over town this fall is the new coaching staff, who have brought incredible energy, a wealth of knowledge, and a winning attitude (without adding anyone from outside the school and despite losing four starters from last year’s team, the Varsity is currently 7-0 with an average winning margin north of 30 points a game).
The new staff is also young (millennial young), amped up on energy drinks, and with an insatiable desire to win. And that has, well, kept me busy. Really busy.
But that is not the exciting news I want to share with you today (although it is exciting). No, today I want to share that not only is my December article out in the Spring Branch Plus magazine, but the article was also picked up by the Chicago Wine Press. That’s right, I am now in another publication!
Before you get too excited for me, it remains to be seen if this will be a regular gig, but for now, go over there and check out my article, I think they did a fabulous job with the layout.
Here is the link to the Chicago Wine Press homepage, and to my article in particular.

Woohoo! Congrats and thanks for the love!
