Back to School Wine Advice You Should Ignore

Wow, September 1st, I can’t believe how the summer has flown by. In Houston, that is a good thing as it is news when the temperature is only in the mid-90s (and let’s not talk about humidity). Luckily, I had a busy summer with trips to Italy, Slovenia, Austin, San Antonio, and somewhere else, I am sure.

Due to all that traveling, I have neglected to post about the articles I have had published over the course of the summer. I did mention a recent post in the Chicago Wine Press (another is due out soon), but I neglected to mention two additional pieces in the local Spring Branch Plus Magazine. Be sure to take a look at the articles and let me know what you think!

My July article focused on wines to keep on hand as they are reasonably priced, consistently good, and, well, wine.

The August article focused on travel. August is typically the hottest month in Houston and the desire, no need, to get out of town is palpable. The article lists some of my more recent getaways in Italy:

Last, this month’s article took a bit of a “back to school” vibe and offered up some widely circulated advice in the wine world that you decidedly should not follow:

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

I really liked the “Advice You Should Ignore.” Favorite line… “the average amount of time a bottle is aged in this country is roughly two hours.” 🙂
