Top Gift Ideas for Wine Lovers This Holiday

As many of you know, I spent the last week in Paris and, as such, I neglected this little site a bit. It’s not that I am not grateful for all you faithful readers out there (which have increased rather substantially over the last two years, by the way), I am. But, well, Paris.

One of the more “regular” posts that I “forgot” to publish was the link to my weekly column in a (really) local magazine here in Houston, Spring Branch Plus Magazine. Despite its precision-like focus on one tiny slice of Houston, our neighborhood of Spring Branch, the printed version of the monthly publication lands in 8-10,000 mailboxes.

That’s quite a few eyeballs (16-20,000 give or take).

This month, I turned my attention to the holidays, and while much of the time I write about what to drink (and sometimes what not to drink), this month I focused on gifts; what to buy the wine lover in your life.

There are a slew of products out there for the wino in your life, from corkscrews (yes, good idea) to corkcicles (um, no). But as I say in the article (spoiler alert), the single best gift you can give the winelover in your life?

OK, I won’t spoil it.

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
