Quite light in the glass, easily the lightest of the flight, but all pink (no orange). More floral than fruity on the nose with some crushed seashell. Quite provencal on the palate with reserved fruit and more than ample acidity. Look, this is light and delicate, but it is also delicious. Whoa. Outstanding. 93 Points.

**2023 Josh Cellars Rosé, California: Retail $16. This might be made with Barbera, but I could not verify that. Fairly light orangish pink with a very shy nose where eventually some nice fruit peeks through along with some thyme. Intense zinginess overpowers the fruit initially, but the slightly underripe strawberry comes through on the finish. Excellent. 91 Points.

*2022 King Estate Pinot Noir Rosé, Willamette Valley, OR: Retail $25. Responsible Bottle (538g; 19oz). Medium to dark with a rather odd nose. Acetate? Kerosene? The palate is not much better, but there is some fruit and decent acidity, but still that kerosene aspect persists. Good. 86 Points.
2023 Kleinlerer Wines Cinsault Cuvée Sacha & Nitza, Lodi, CA: Retail $27. Really light in the glass with just a hint of color. The palate is a bit flinty and dirty with hints of fruit in the background. Good tartness, but lacking in fruit. There is balance, I guess, but it needs a fruit infusion. Very Good. 88 Points.

2023 Shannon Family of Wines Mother Vine, High Valley, CA: Retail $38. Heavy Bottle (642g; 1lb 6.6oz). Cinsault and Grenache. I have no doubt that they love the bottle, it is beautiful, but…The wine? Very light with more of an orange with a candied nose of melon and lime. Great fruit, really fantastic, tart, lively, lovely. Comes off as a bit sweet due to all of that fruit, but it really is a fantastic wine. Yowza. Outstanding. 95 Points.

*2021 Smith-Madrone Rosé, Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley, CA: Retail $30. Ridiculously Responsible Bottle (414g; 14.6oz). 67% Cabernet Franc, 33% Merlot. I have been doing this tasting for eight years now and I can safely say that there has not been a bigger difference from one year to the next than with this 2021 Smith-Madrone. Last year, I was not a fan (87 points). This year? Holy cow. Really dark in both color and aromas, this is honestly fairly close to a red. More darker fruit here, plum, raspberry. Good fruit on the palate, even really good with some nice acidity. Whoa. Given the color, I assumed this would be heavy handed, but it really works. Outstanding. 94 Points.

Medium color with a touch of petrol on the nose, oddly, with a palate that is a bit listless. Some stale fruit, and just an odd vibe. *2022 Troon Vineyard Kubli Bench Rosé, Applegate Valley, OR: Retail $25. 55% Mourvèdre, 25% Cinsault, 9% Counoise, 8% Carignan, 3% Négrette. Really, really light in color with a really funky, almost off-putting nose, sulfur, almost barnyard (but not Brett). The palate? Better, with some fruit and tartness, but there is that meaty thing going on here. Very Good. 87 Points.
2023 Troon Vineyard Ascendant Rosé, Applegate Valley, OR: Retail $30. Very Responsible Bottle (482g; 17oz). I could not find any information about this wine on line. Lacking any real “pink” this is, at least in color, more of a slightly dark (ish) white than a rosé. Herbal (mint, basil) more than fruity both on the nose and the palate. Even with some time, the fruit just was not there, still, I like it. Very Good. 88 Points.
2023 Troon Vineyard Druid’s Pink, Applegate Valley, OR: Retail $25. Very Responsible Bottle (479g; 16.9oz). 62% Mourvèdre, 18% Grenache, 8% Cinsault, 7% Carignan, 5% Counoise. Quite light with an intriguing nose of buttered popcorn, with a little medicinal thing going on, but it works? The fruit on the palate is more marmalade then fresh with some good tartness. Very Good. 88 Points.

Responsible Bottle (516g; 1lb 2.2oz)Pinkish orange with a bit of a dirty nose with some wild strawberry. Rather shy on the palate with not much fruit initially, but by the midpalate, both the acidity and fruit come through. Strong finish as well. Lovely. Excellent. 91 Points.
*2022 Youngberg Hill Pinot Noir Rosé, Willamette Valley, OR: Retail $40. Ridiculously Responsible Bottle (483g; 17oz). Light pinkish orange with a bit of a dirty nose that is also perfumed with a lovely floral note. Good fruit but a bit round initially. The acidity comes through by the finish though. Nice. Excellent. 90 Points.
