Wine Quiz #11

I decided to change things up for this week’s quiz, but it is multiple choice, so you have a shot regardless.

You’re sitting at a small authentic restaurant in Paris with a good friend.  All of a sudden, your friend addresses the waiter in perfect French, and proceeds to order.  You do not speak a word of French and never knew about your friend’s hidden talent (you suspect that he/she might be a spy or a prostitute, but you do not ask for fear that he/she might have a gun or may be charging you by the hour).  After a few moments, this shows up at your table:

Your friend also ordered a carafe of wine to go with it, which makes you dismiss your previous thoughts almost immediately.  Not because you feel any less concerned, but you know now that you are going to get your drink on and you can deal with the other stuff later.

So here is the question:  Which of these glasses will likely accompany the wine?

Glass One

        Glass Two

                 Glass Three

                 Glass Four

Extra Credit:

1. What did your friend order to eat?

2. What wine did he/she order?

3. Did you ever ask your friend about his/her secret identity?

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

As a first-time visitor, why not make a fool of myself. Although the pizza seems very white, what appears to be bacon is tossing me for a loop. Given Paris is norther France, a foresee a crisp wine from Alsace in glass three.

Well, I guess if you would rename the picture file into something which doesn’t contain “Alsacienne Tarte Flambe”, the level of difficulty would greatly increase 🙂 But I still think it is very difficult to guess the correct glass…
