A few nights ago, the writers over at the PA Vine Company got together to eat some barbecue, needle each other a bit, and drink some wine, of course. You should go and check out the write up (including a review of the 2010 Trentadue La Storia Merlot by yours truly), particularly if you live in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and are looking for some wine ideas for the holidays. You should also go and check out the restaurant, Barbacoa, a ‘Peruvian Style’ Barbecue joint that lacks a little in the ambiance area, but makes up for it with some really outstanding grilled meat. I certainly recommend it!
That is all for now!

Glad to see that someone else thinks that blogging about “warmer times experience” is still appropriate : ) That will give me an encouragement to finish a couple of older posts : )

That looks soooo dang good!
Question? Whats a good Pinot Noir to use in Cioppino as well as finish off the bottle?

Thanks Clarissa! As to your question, Cioppino is difficult because of the tomatoes and spice. My first response is always Champagne/sparkling wine since they have the acidity to battle (and a rosé sparkler would add a little heft). If you want to go pinot, you need one with a pretty good hit of acidity and preferably with a little fruit (but not too much). I would suggest either a Siduri Regional wine (either Sta. Rita Hills or Sonoma Coast, both about $30) or an Argyle Pinot (about $20). Let me know what you end up with and how it goes!

Hmmmmm….thank you for this, maybe a gift certificate for something like this would be a good gift, do you think?? With Company party gift exchanges coming….and the first Christmas with the boyfriend’s family…any gift ideas pairing ideas that you have would be SO ‘eaten’ up!!…

What type of pairings? For some of your scrumptious recipes?

Wow that sounds great! We should do a post together like that at some point!!
But I was thinking, our Company gift exchange has a limit of $15. What would be some of the best bottles of wine you recommend at that price and what type of chocolate/truffle would you pair with it? And the boyfriend’s fam has put a $25 limit on adult gifts….what’d’ya think!….? I would LOVE some recs….

You live in SC, right? So most retailers will ship to you, I believe. Right now there is a pretty good Spanish wine on Last Bottle for $19. Free Shipping if you order 4. If you click on the link on my blog, I get a $20 credit! Win-win! Otherwise, I reviewed a pretty good Barolo the other day on my blog for $20 from Wine Chateau (also a link on my blog–tell them I sent you, they have been very nice to me).

If neither of those appeal to you, I will get to work on it this weekend!

You are making me hungry. Washing down BBQ with wine instead of beer sounds good to me.

Looks fantastic! And the Peruvian food I’ve had (while actually in Peru) was always solid!

I was really surprised (and never knew there was a ‘Peruvian’ style of BBQ)!
