As a result of Winter Storm Hecules (not sure how I feel about this naming winter storms thing), we all have a Snow Day! Off to go sledding—here is a picture from the last significant snow here in Philly a few years ago:

Kind of. About 8″-10″, not too bad.

I was reading about “Hercules” on another blog and I really thought they were being hyperbolic. Wow—when did they seriously start naming them???? Have fun sledding and stay warm.

I’m sure this will make you homesick for A2 – we got pelted with the snow yesterday and were planning on skiing today. That got scrapped because of the current temp of -2.

-2? Did they move A^2 to Minnesota? Been trying to ship Jeff Burrows his wine, but it has not been above 20 for the last three weeks!

And Jeff B. has been holding my Secret Alcoholic shipment up there in the Arctic Tundra (by mutual agreement) until things thaw a bit . . . could be Secret St. Patty’s Day wine! 😃

I have no idea how they can live in that cold! On Monday the HIGH is forecast to be minus 14!

It looks like fun! I always enjoy going out into the snow with my kids. Yesterday we attempted with the hopes of making an upside down snowman. However, the snow wasnt wet enough, and it was 0 out and windy in Indiana……Even I have limitations!!!

What is an upside down snowman? 0 is cold, I don’t care who you are!

We saw a picture the other day. It’s a regular snowman, but you put the face on the bottom circle….looking up! It just amused us:) ….next time…maybe when it’s 15 or above 😉

I do like naming the storms but Herculus sounded like a petrifying name for a storm! Happy snow day! 🙂

The snow plow woke me up at 3:00 am. I was all set to be irritated, but when I looked out the window at the wonderland, I giddily thought instead about getting dressed and going out to make a snow angel. Common sense prevailed. I’m off to make one now, though. No hills anywhere nearby–the seacoast here is FLAT–or I’d be doing sledding!

We do not have much of a hill here, but it is good enough!

How about Winter Storm Whitey? Winter Storm Jack (as in Frost)? Have fun! Winter is to be enjoyed in all it’s horrible cold and discomfort. And always goes best with children.

I remember that snow storm a couple of years ago. I think there were actually several in that year. Today makes a good snow day for me too.

Yeah, a few years ago we had three storms of over a foot! Not much since….

It does not help you when I tell you that Continental Europe has springlike temperatures, right?

No. That does not help at all.

Fun to read all of these comments in sunny 68 degree Napa. Seriously, we REALLY need the rain and didn’t really feel like Christmas with the warm sunny weather. I know, boo hoo.

No, I heard you guys are really hurting for rain. Believe me—we certainly hope you get it!

Jeff,
If they use up their allotment of snow in Philly, they can come and take as much of my snow as they desire as well. They are great at that age.

Yes, we did, and to celebrate there is a Winter Ice Sculpture Weekend in Plymouth. They planned it well this year.
