Monthly Wine Writing Challenge #10–The Results

The results are inI think just about everyone out there likes a “good game” or a “close race” as it tends to make things more exciting. Sure, there are times when your side ends up on the losing side, but for those moments that the outcome was in doubt, you likely felt an intense sense of engagement. You also might have felt sick to your stomach and wanted to puke, but that is not really where I am trying to go with this.

There are also times when deciding a really close race gets a bit out of hand (“hanging chad” anyone?) and you find yourself actually hoping for more of a decisive victory, so as to leave no doubt who won.

Well this month’s Monthly Wine Writing Challenge was the latter–it was not even close folks. There were 17 entries this go around and this month’s winner got a whopping 54% of the votes. Whoa. So without any further babbling on my part…

And-the-Winner-IsDracaena Wines: Core Values in Life and Wine

As the winner of this month’s challenge, she has the “honor” of choosing the topic for next month’s Challenge.

That is all for now–I leave for the Wine Blogger’s Conference in a few short hours, so my next post will be from sunny Santa Barbara!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

Have fun in SB! Go to margerum. Great place. Also go to les marchandes. Great wine shop/bar that skews toward the French. You’ll love it!

  4. Wow. I honestly can’t believe I won. Thank you to everyone who voted. I guess after almost 20 years of teaching Values to my kids, this was a good topic for me. Enjoy SB! We will be out there for the SB Wine Festival.
