I am out in California for the Wine Bloggers Conference and currently on the pre-conference excursion to Paso Robles. Yesterday, we started at Niner Wine Estates, then headed to Tablas Creek, and finished with dinner at beautiful Daou Vineyards. I would love to tell you about the wines we tasted, but there were so many, taking notes quickly became futile. So instead, here are a few photos:

Lavender field at Niner Wine Estates

First tasting of the day at Niner.

Tennet Noir at Tablas Creek

Tablas Creek is all about the vines.

Moon over Daou

Our last tasting of the day.
This is my first trip to Paso and I will certainly be back.

About the drunken cyclist
I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
We love Paso Robles. It’s an amazing place. Great photos, too! I’m looking forward to the rest of your WBC adventures.

There is actually a wine bloggers conference? Really? I need to come up with a conference in a really great location for bloggers who just ramble on and on…like myself.

I know. Seems kind of overly hedonistic.

We alternate vacations between Paso and Napa/Sonoma. Chateau Margene is our favorite in Paso Robles but I could name so many we like. It’s a much more laid back atmosphere there.

Everyone there was so great–it really does remind me of Sonoma in a lot of ways.

Thank you for sharing. Wish I was there. I am heading to Columbus for Freshman orientation in a couple of days. You should be taking my daughter to Columbus and I should be in SBC! Keep the pictures coming and please have a glass of a fabulous SBC pinot for me. Enjoy and cheers!

Love Paso! It’s a toss up between Paso and and Sonoma for my fave wine regions so far for me…TCV is a favorite of course, but there are so many wineries there now. We’ve traveled to Paso annually for the last 4 years (although this year isn’t looking good:-(
Enjoy WBC…I’ve got try to make it next year!

So glad you loved Paso! It is a beautiful area and has so many great wineries. (We may be a little prejudice though). Isnt Daou just breathtaking? Did you taste the Cab Franc Reserve 1740? Phenomenal wine!
