Saturday Reminders—5/16/15

Getting ready to run off to yet another Little League game (I do think Little League should be classified as an insidious form of parental torture…), but I thought I would jot down a few reminders for this fine Saturday.

As has become somewhat of a norm on a Saturday morning, I do not have any “new” content, but I do have a several announcements.

wine-stain1-3#1: Monthly Wine Writing Challenge 17 (#MWWC17): There are still a few weeks to get your entries in for the Monthly Wine Writing Challenge (deadline: June 8th—more details HERE), but there have already been three entries, and I am not sure which of them is the most shocking. Normally, I would have been astounded that Anatoli (Talk-a-Vino) had already submitted his entry. Not that he is a procrastinator—that is a crown that is perhaps most proudly worn by the lovely (and slightly neurotic) Loie of Cheap Wine Curious. But since she has already posted for the Challenge, maybe she is ready to give up that crown (although I think I will reserve judgment on that for at least another month). What was more surprising about Anatoli’s entry was that it came just days after the announcement of the theme, but that, too was surpassed by Vinesight, a newcomer to the Challenge, who posted his entry just a couple of hours after the theme was announced! A record that I doubt will ever be broken!

IMG_3749#2: Wine Dinner at Fare. This month, the theme will be Sparkling Wines! (Likely including Prosecco, Cava, hopefully a Sekt, a Californian, and a Champagne), which will be paired with five courses (including dessert), all for $75 (plus tax and tip). The dinner is being held on Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 and there are still a few spots left. If you are interested, leave me a message on my Facebook page (FB Page) or send me an email (below).

#3: Bike Ride. It will be a glorious day here in Philadelphia, so I hope to head out for a bike ride after I get back from baseball let me know if you want to join me!

My email: jeff (at) thedrunkencyclist (dot) com

Cheers!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

I recommend switching your boys to lacrosse- made my weekends much happier. Watching Little League games is akin to watching paint dry…

    • I don’t know. Lacrosse seems to require quite a bit more athletic ability and toughness, which seems to be lacking in one of our boys. On the other hand, it could not be much worse than baseball….
