Saturday Reminders–8/29/15

Just a couple quick notes this Saturday from out on the West Coast where it is hotter than Houston.

1. As some of you may or may not know, Pope Francis is going to invade our fair city at the end of September (more accurately, the Secret Service will be descending on Philadelphia and imposing prison-like restrictions on the residents–particularly those who live in our neighborhood where his Holiness [that is what Catholics call him, right?] will be conducting Sunday mass).

We, like most denizens of the City of “Don’t Piss Me Off and I Might Tolerate You” are planning to get the heck out of Dodge, but before that mass exodus happens, I am hosting another wine dinner at our local restaurant, Fare.

Details will follow soon, but we are calling it “Pope the Cork” and it will occur on Wednesday, September 23 at 7:00.

2. Last month , Elizabeth of Traveling Wine Chick, the winner of the last Monthly Wine Writing Challenge (#MWWC18), selected the theme for this month’s Challenge, #MWWC19:

All the details for this month’s Challenge can be found HERE.

Don’t worry, you still have a bit over two weeks to submit your writing (the deadline is 9/14), but I thought I would send out a (another) friendly reminder.

That is just the way I roll, I guess.

Have a great Saturday folks!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
