Saturday Reminders–2/6/16

After spending a few days up in New York, I am back home gearing up for another Saturday morning filled with coaching basketball and carting the kids around to various activities. I also looked at the calendar and saw February and freaked out just a tad. We are planning to move to Houston sometime this summer, but we are nowhere near close to ready. No doubt my weekends from this point forward will be rather stressful and jam-packed.

I also realized that these Saturday reminders will likely come to a screeching halt soon as well. I use this space mostly as reminders for events that I am conducting around Philadelphia, but all-too-soon we will no longer be here. I am sure I will try to replicate some of the events down in Texas, but that may take a bit of time to get moving.

Until then, though, there are a few events I will be hosting here, so if you find yourself in the 215 (or the 610, or even the 267), I would love to see you at one of my events before I disappear to more southern climes:

  1. I just received the theme for this month’s Monthly Wine Writing Challenge (#MWWC23) and I will be announcing it either Monday or Tuesday.
  2. The date for this month’s Wine Dinner at Fare Restaurant is February 24th at 7:00. The theme still needs to be flushed out a bit, but it will have a decidedly Greek flavor to it. The manager at Fare hails from Greece and he has been wanting to add a bit of Greek flair to the dinners for some time. This month, he gets his chance! If you would like to reserve a spot, please call the restaurant (267-639-3063). the cost is $75 (plus tax and tip) for the 5 course meal with wine.

  3. The next Spinning class followed by a wine tasting also now on the calendar and it is already half full! The date is February 26th at 7:00 and there is a nominal $10 charge for the class. I have yet decided on the theme, but we typically taste 5 wines that are somehow related. If you would like to join in the sweating and swirling, give the gym a call and reserve a bike: (215) 236-0763.

Have a great Saturday folks!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
