Sebastian is my seven-year old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

I am currently in the South of France for the week without my family. This causes me to pay even more attention to the little Frenchies walking around as they all remind me of my boys back in Philadelphia. Thus, this week I thought I would revisit a few Sundays Are For Sebastian that had a decided French theme to them….

Sundays Are For Sebastian #25 (September 29, 2013)

We often play “How do you say _____ in French?” at breakfast.

The other morning I asked Nathan (10 years old) “How do you say lightbulb in French?” (The answer is “ampoule.”)

Nathan (after a moment of reflection): “Lightbulb, lightbulb, what does it start with?”

Sebastian (5 years old): “LLLLLLLightbulb, like LLLLLLion.”

Sundays Are For Sebastian #30 (November 3, 2013)

As some of you know, our boys attend a French Language immersion school. Last year, after Halloween, I asked the then four year-old Sebastian what he learned at school that day. He responded with his first unsolicited complete sentence in French:

“Tu le touches, tu le manges.”

(You touch it, you eat it.)

He then made a B-line for his brother’s Halloween candy.
