Saturday Reminder–7/16/16

Well, we are gradually becoming accustomed to our new (temporary) home down here in Houston. The heat, although constant, is not really all that bad, but then I have not been out in it for a bike ride yet as my bike showed up missing a critical part, rendering it useless for the time being.

Great.

I have been enjoying doing a touch of wine shopping, however, at the grocery store. That might not seem like that big of a deal for most of you, but for me, having suffered through the oppressive liquor laws in Pennsylvania for the last 16 years, it is a refreshing change.

Other than that, there is not a whole lot to report. I do hit the road with the boys again this Friday, though, as we hop on a plane to Detroit where I will leave them for the week as I go off to Oregon for a press trip, culminating in the International Pinot Noir Celebration in McMinnville, Oregon.

Just one quick reminder this week:

  • The deadline for submission for the Monthly Wine Writing Challenge is this Monday, July 18th, with this month’s theme being Solitude. All the details can be found HERE.

Have a great weekend everyone!solitude-600x400

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

  1. I hope you enjoy your trip to Oregon! You’ll be on the other side of the mountains so most likely I won’t have a chance to “bump” into you somewhere.
