Sundays Are For Sebastian #178

Sebastian is my eight-year old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

I was driving home the other day with Sebastian in the back seat and I asked him what he would like for dinner.

Seba: “I dunno.”

Me: “Well, what is your favorite thing to have for dinner?”

Seba: “Grandma’s jambalaya!”

Me (not expecting this response): “Really?!?”

Seba: “Yeah! Grandma is my favorite cook. #2 is you and mommy (you’re tied), and #3 is Nathan.”

Me: “Well, do you want to learn how to cook?”

Seba: “Not really.”

Me: “Oh, come on! It would be fun, we can go home and look through a cookbook and I can walk you through it. What would you like to make?”

Seba: “Toast.”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

  2. I started my blog for my daughter so she could cook on her own, and all she wants to do is eat out at restaurants… But you know, toast is a beginning!

If he can pop some popcorn, add jelly beans and pretzel sticks and he can make Snoopy’s Thanksgiving dinner.

A least he won’t starve & learning to operate a toaster is a life long skill. Double win.

If I had 4 good cooks in my life, I don’t think I’d want to learn either. Smart kid!
