Sundays Are For Sebastian #190

Sebastian is my eight-year-old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

As some of you may know, Sebastian has attended a French-language school since he was three and is now essentially fluent in the language. When we moved to Houston, we were elated to discover that he could continue with the language at a school here. Before starting at the school, however, he needed to take a French placement test, and while driving to said test….

Sebastian: “How long is this going to take?”

Me: “I don’t know. About two hours?”

Seba: “Well there goes my whole schedule.”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

  1. File this in the “be careful what you wish for” department: Both our kids attended French immersion in our local public schools. Our son, now 26 has been in France for the last year and will be starting a graduate program in Aix-en-Provence next week. I’m now starting to wonder if I need to have better French to speak to theoretical future grandchildren!
