Saturday Reminders—4/21/18

After nearly two straight weeks on the road, I am finally back home in Houston. When you read this, I will likely be at my son’s Little League baseball game, trying not to lose my mind. To try and keep a modicum of sanity, here are a few reminders:

  • If you have not already done so, you need to enter Rodney Strong’s Master Blender Sweepstakes. I was out in Sonoma a few weeks ago where I experienced what the two winners will experience and it is unlike any visit to Wine Country. Details about my trip can be found HERE.
  • Since last week, the number of rosés for “The Second Annual Largest Blind Tasting of American True Rosé in the World” (or something like that) has doubled–we are now up to almost 40. Add to that the wines from last year, and the total eclipses 50. True Rosés are pink wines that are not saignée, wines that are intentionally made to be rosé from the start. They are not a by-product of red wine production. Even though the total is now up to more than four dozen, if you would like to either submit a wine or participate in the tasting, please contact me. The original date for the tasting was supposed to be this weekend, but a number of producers suggested a later date as their wines had not yet been released. I am now looking at a couple of dates in May for the tasting.

This year’s lineup as of last week. Now there are twice as many.

Have a Safe Saturday!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

So, are you inviting all former MWWC winners to the Rosé tasting?
