It is Cinco de Mayo and I am going to “celebrate” by going to my son’s Little League baseball game hoping that he is able to stop his current streak of striking out (I think it stands at eight straight times). Should I make it through the game without blowing a gasket, I hope to go for a bike ride, possibly with my lovely wife who just returned from a week of cycling in (or is it on?) Mallorca. Then, I will open myself up to some torture watching the Philadelphia 76ers trying not to lose their third straight game to the hated Boston Celtics. Before I start this action-packed “holiday” I have a couple of reminders:
- If you have not already done so, you need to enter Rodney Strong’s Master Blender Sweepstakes. I was out in Sonoma a few weeks ago where I experienced what the two winners will experience and it is unlike any visit to Wine Country. Details about my trip can be found HERE.

While the folks at Rodney Strong take winemaking seriously, that can not always be said about those of us who are not employed by the company.
- • The number of wines for “The Largest Blind Tasting of American True Rosés Ever” has grown to over 60 with a few more on the way. True Rosés are pink wines that are not saignée, wines that are intentionally made to be rosé from the start. They are not a by-product of red wine production. Even though the total is now up to more than five dozen, if you would like to either submit a wine or participate in the tasting, please contact me. I have narrowed the date for the tasting to either June 2nd or June 9th, so if you are in Houston and would like to partake (it will be a “formal tasting” that will likely take close to three hours and spitting will be required), let me know if you have a preferred date.

This year’s lineup as of two weeks ago…

…then it grew to this….

…and it got crazy once I added the previous vintages.
Have a Safe Saturday!
Oh, if only we could come to the rose tasting!
