Today I am writing from the heart of Dixie (I think). I am in Ridgeland, Mississippi where I have been riding my bike along the Natchez Trace Parkway. The 444 mile route extends from Natchez, Mississippi up to Nashville, Tennessee. The parkway was built to commemorate the original Natchez Trace was a migratory path created by North American bison and later used as a footpath by Native Americans following the “traces” of the animals. Eventually, it was used for commerce and even a trail used by calvaries in several wars that touched the area. But more on that later.
Today, as I drive westward, I have a reminder for you:
- This is the sixth year for the Secret Wino exchange. Similar to the “Secret Santa” concept where participants send a bottle of wine (or two) to another participant somewhere else in the country, while receiving wine from yet another. If you would like to participate, there is still time to enter. All the details are HERE.

Have a Safe Saturday!
