It is freezing down here in Houston today (which means it is under 50°) but I am to get in a ride this afternoon. First, I need to head down to NRG Stadium for a quick training. I will once again be a judge for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s International Wine Competition. I hear there are a record number of entrants this year (somewhere north of 3,000 entries). I then hope to swing by a farmer’s market–I have yet to find a good one here in Houston–does anyone know of one? Before I attack my day, here are a couple of reminders for you….
- I have had to postpone my Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noirs due to the fires in California–there were a number of wineries in Sonoma in particular that wanted to participate, but they had bigger issues, like a huge, raging wildfire. The date will now likely be December 7th. If you would like to either attend or have a wine in the tasting, send me an email: jeff (at) thedrunkencyclist (dot) com.
- This is the seventh year for the Secret Wino exchange. Similar to the “Secret Santa” concept where participants send a bottle of wine (or two) to another participant somewhere else in the country, while receiving wine from yet another. If you would like to participate, there is still time to enter. All the details are HERE. I will be sending out assignments on Monday, November 4th, so if you would like to join in on the fun, let me know today!
That’s all I have today—have a great and safe Saturday!
