Sundays Are For Sebastian Revisited (#133)

I am not exactly on the road today, I am indeed still in Houston, but I am rather incapacitated all weekend. I am serving as a judge for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, one of the largest wine competitions in the country. Yesterday, I tasted about 100 different wines, most of them upper-echelon wines. Today, I fear, I will be going through some that are, well, not in any “echelon.” Before I run out the door, here is a Sundays from a few years ago….

Sebastian is my seven-year-old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people. I was digging through my notes and I found this one from a couple of years ago when Sebastian was five:

Every night we play “trois choses” where the boys tell me three things that happened to them during the day.

Nathan: “Today we watched a movie about Global Warming. It had Al Gore. Do you know who that is?”

Me; “Yeah, I am all over it. What was the name of the movie, do you remember?”

Nathan: “Ummmm, it was, ummmm….”

Me: “An Inconvenient Truth?”

Nathan: “Yes! That’s it! How did you know?!?”

Sebastian: “He was in fifth grade too, you know! [Pause] A loooong time agooooo….”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
