While this space is usually used to recount the utterances of our younger son, Sebastian, today the quip is from our older boy. Nathan is closing in rapidly on 17, is 6’4″, a junior in high school, and finds his parents to be extremely un-cool.
I had just received some new filters for my DSLR camera when Nathan walked in.
Nathan: “Why are you putting on that? It will make all the pictures you take purple?”
Me: “No it won’t, it’s a fluorescent light filter.”
Nathan: “And why are you using that camera?”
Me: “Huh?”
Nathan: “It’s so lame, it can’t even take selfies.”
A good looking young man. I wish him the very best in his future! He can still learn a lot from you. (even if Dad is un-cool.)

Selfies, my man, selfies ❤️ What a wonderful story to one day share back with him 😊 You should, next time you see him & have your camera, have him pose with you for a selfie “for fun” – then show it to him years from now, with this post’s story. It’ll mean the world to him 💕

I didn’t even realize the pics I took, back in the 60s and 70s, with film and slides etc, would mean so much to all of us til my son brought it my attention. He asked why we didn’t take more pics back then, and I told him it was expensive, so people didn’t encourage it – one of the digital world’s little heralded miracles ❤️
