My Hope? That You Vote.

I try very hard to remain apolitical in this space despite being a bit of a political junky. And while I am stepping away from writing about wine today, I hope my message today is still apolitical:

It is perhaps a simple act (although nothing seems to be simple these days), but it is vital to the health of this democracy. Obviously, I hope that you vote for the candidate that I selected two weeks ago, but even if you don’t I firmly believe that is the duty of each citizen to partake in the most fundamental tenet of democracy.

I plan on returning to writing about wine again tomorrow, but today I am hopeful for the future of this country. Hopeful that the country will find a way to come together and confront the problems that we face. Many will say that my “hope” is more of a pipe dream, but I am a firm believer in this country and its citizens. So if you have not already, please grab your mask, head to your polling place, and vote.

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
