Last night, after a mad dash home from work, racing across town to pick up the little one from school, and stopping off to get my new cycling gear, I hopped on a plane heading to San Francisco. Ostensibly, I am out here to visit my in-laws, but as is usually the case, I am managing to work in some time in wine country. This go around, I am excited to be hosted by the Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley, Visit Santa Rosa, and particularly Donald Goodkin of Goodkin Vineyards. There will be much more on that in the days and weeks to come.
For now, after getting in around 1:30 a.m. local time (that is 4:30 a.m. Philly time for those of you keeping score), I am finally getting my bearings (thanks to a good old-fashioned nap). On the agenda for the day:

Oh dear, the poor bike.

Yeah, that bike has enough issues without being crammed in behind the lawn mower….

Please consider a visit to Halleck Vineyard while in the neighborhood. We are planning a wine/cycling weekend and would enjoy bouncing ideas around over a glass or two.

Double double animal style? Neapolitan shake? It’s the first place former Ca residents hit when they come back 🙂 Love the Costco size box of clorox toilet bowl cleaner. Have a great visit!

We went back again today and I tried the Animal Fries for the first time–the cheese is a bit much, but oh so good!

Thanks for the tip–Gerry Pasterick is a hoot and the only thing better than his Syrah is his Viognier! That stuff is off the charts good….

Get that bike out of there! And enjoy the wine – yum 🙂

It really should be put to rest. The bike, not the wine….

Well, that picture of the in ‘n out is the saddest picture I’ve ever seen. It’s worth another glass of wine.

Sad? No Way! They were making my Animal Fries!

All I was seeing were the disinterested workers. Only been to an in/out once – it was a noisefest – couldn’t enjoy the food. Not brave enough to try again.

I would actually say that the workers at In and Out tend to be some of the best Fast Food workers that I have experienced (although we rarely go to fast food other than In and Out!).

My question would be, what pairs well with the In-and-Out burger?

Tasting wine vs. visiting the inlaws? Wine wins!

And it was not even remotely close (although my in-laws are fantastic–really).

You’re lucky. My in-laws are in Utah which means visiting is very “dry”.

Whoa. That might call for some marriage counseling or at least an intervention!

When I first saw the In-N-Out pic I thought you were going to tell me that you found one that sold wine with their burgers. That would be heaven. Aaahhh…. Have a great time!
