Rhône Variety Wine Dinner at Fare

For the past few months, I have been helping out a local restaurant, Fare, with their wine program, and last month, we hosted the first wine dinner, which focused on the by-the-glass wine offerings at the restaurant.IMG_3628The event was well received, so we decided to make it into a monthly (at least for now) occurrence. The next such event is this coming Tuesday (March 3rd) where the focus will be on Rhône varieties (Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne for the whites, and Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Grenache primarily for the reds). While these grapes grew to prominence in the Rhône Valley in France, they are now being grown all over the world and as such, the wines I’ve selected come from Chile, the U.S., Spain, and of course, France.IMG_3626So if you are in or near Philadelphia this Tuesday, you should come by for the dinner!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

  1. I would have loved to take part of that dinner to compare the different grape’s expressions over different countries, and how they all pair with food. It’s always interesting! Enjoy
