Last week, Jim of JVB Uncorked won the Monthly Wine Writing Challenge #15 (#MWWC15) and just like all winners of the Challenge, his “reward” was to choose the theme for the following Challenge (in this case #MWWC16).
A few of us started the Monthly Wine Writing Challenge over a year ago with the desire to promote more creative wine writing. The thought was that we get caught up in tasting notes, winery visits, and the occasional food porn and we soon forget that part of the reason we put in all the hours that we do on these silly blogs is that we love to write!
In what has to be a first for the Challenge, without any coaxing whatsoever, Jim was able to submit a theme for the next Challenge in a record two days. Now, that might not seem like such a big deal, but given the track records of some of the previous winners who shall go unnamed, two days is an incredible achievement. Perhaps he was inspired by the newly chosen theme itself to just “get it done” so to speak. Whatever the reason, we are ready to put this next Challenge into motion so that everyone out there can get to their keyboards and start creating some utter brilliance!
Or something like that.
So what exactly is this theme that perhaps urged Jim to get the theme to me in such a timely fashion?
The rules
- The Challenge is open to anybody and everybody. It helps if you have a blog, but that is certainly not a requirement (contact me if this is the case).
- Write a post based on this month’s theme: “Finish”.
- The post should be at least tangentially related to wine (after all, it is the name of the challenge).
- The post should be more or less around 1000 words (I routinely violate this rule, so it is just there as a “guide”).
- Include the Monthly Wine Writing Challenge badge (above) that was designed by the very first winner, The Armchair Sommelier.
- Remember to vote!
- Once you post on your blog, please do at least two of the following and I will be sure to include a link here as well as on all subsequent posts about this month’s challenge:
- Include a link back to this post in your entry.
- Use the hashtag #MWWC16 somewhere in your post.
- Tweet, using the #MWWC16 hashtag and include a link back to your post.
- Send me an email: jeff(at)thedrunkencyclist(dot)com
- Include a link back to this post in your entry.

Great theme – or at least I think it is before I try to write something about it.

For some reason the drinking always seems to be easier than the writing!

I’ve been wanting to submit fro the MWWC since you started it – I love the concept!! I’ve finally plugged it into my blogging schedule (now that I have one) and will look forward to writing a submission and better yet – reading everyone else’s ideas!!
