Well, my wife does not get home for another couple of hours (she started her job in Houston on Tuesday), but it seems as though I have made it through my first official week of being a single parent. Perhaps needless to say, but I have the utmost respect for those that play that role all the time. It ain’t easy.
I made it through five dinners, four mornings getting them out the door to school, a couple of baseball practices, Tae Kwon Do, a science fair, a birthday party, and about twenty-seven fights.
All while trying to keep the house in some sort of order as our first open house is tomorrow.
Yeah, I know it is old hat for some of you, but it felt a bit weird not having someone else to do some of the lifting when I felt my arms getting tired.
All that will change when we pick my wife at noon today and she drops me off at the bar on the way home. You know the bar: the one with a wine list 37 pages long and a cot for guests. That’s where I will be for the next 48 hours or so.
We came home to a completely different abode: the stagers had been here while we were away, getting our house ready to be put on the market. I am under strict orders to keep the house as it currently is (minus the paint fumes, I assume).
I do have a few announcements for you before I take my mini-barcation, however:
- The deadline for the current Monthly Wine Writing Challenge (“Pleasure”) is just over a week away (4/18), so get thee to your keyboard and start writing! You can find all the details HERE.
- Perhaps my last Sip and Spin ever will be on April 15th at 7:00. So if you are going to be in Philadelphia and would like to attend my Spinning class followed by a wine tasting (I am thinking Loire Valley wines), better call Lifesport at (215) 236-0763 and reserve a spot!
Have a great Saturday folks!
Ugh, selling a house. The worst.

There are things in life you should only have to do once: die, sell a house, and coach Little League baseball.

I know! I used to think she was the smartest woman I ever met. Now I am not so sure….

I wish you all strength, good wine and no sense of humour failures when the going gets tough…

I think the bottles in the basement know that they are being held for sacrifices–they seem to keep disappearing.
