Well, our time here in Philadelphia is quickly coming to an end. As most of you know by now, we are moving to Houston, Texas to start a new chapter. To mark that momentous event, we decided that we should move several times since once did not seem sufficient. The “first” move was packing up a good chunk of our belongings to put into storage, appeasing the professional “stager” that “helped” us sell the house (don’t get me started on what a racket I think that is).
Next, we packed up the rest of the house and sent it off to Houston (which in itself was a colossal headache, which I might write about at some point). We needed to stay in town for a couple of reasons (not the least of which was the end of the boys’ baseball seasons), so some great friends allowed us to move into their house for a week while they were in Europe.
Well, today, we move once more, this time into a hotel here in downtown Philly since I figured there is no better place in the world to spend July 4th than where the Declaration of Independence was signed some 240 years ago.
Then, on Wednesday, the boys and I will start our 1,500 drive south and west to Houston, where we will move into an apartment while we wait for our house to be finished. Last, at some point in either September or October (hopefully), we will make the last move into our new home.
Phew.
So on this first Saturday in July and our last in Philly, I only have one announcement for you (well two: the Tour de France starts today!): the deadline for submission for the Monthly Wine Writing Challenge is July 18th, with this month’s theme being Solitude. All the details can be found HERE.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow. That made me tired reading this. Will you celebrate Bastille Day in Houston or will you be traveling? 😊

Unfortunate we are missing Bastille Day here–it is a lot of fun in our ‘hood. Our old ‘hood that is.

I can’t like that comment. I know this move isn’t easy for you. It sounds like you really loved Philly (except for the PLCB, that is).

Yeah I love Philly and it is tough to leave, but this is a great opportunity and it is time to move on!

I did the moving in multiple stages thing, even though it was over shorter distances it was still a pain! Good luck!

Just a few more stages to go, but those are the toughest ones!

Anymore and we just watch the tour for the scenery. It’s just not been the same since 2006. Yes, we loved Lance, and defended him. Jeez. What part of Houston are you going to be living?

It is nice to watch the Tour just for the scenery and bits of history. I was a Lance defender too, for a while. We are eventually going to be inSpring Branch—Northwest Houston.

He fooled us all, the bastard. I just watched “The Program,” a docu-drama about him and the whole team. Made me sick. I just honestly think they should all be drugged with the same stuff so it’s an even playing field. but of course there would still be cheating. We lived in NW Houston, near Cypress, Tomball… it was way out there – took me an hour to commute to my job.
