Saturday Reminders—6/3/17

I am in a rather cozy bed in the Alfama section of Lisbon after having spent several wonderful days in the Alentejo region of Portugal, eating some wonderful food and tasting some fantastic wines. I only have a couple of days here in the capital, but before I headed out to explore, here are a few reminders:

  • Even though the ride to Austin is over, you can still contribute! I originally had hoped to raise $500, but as of this morning, I am hovering just under $1000. If all of you give just a few bucks, it will push me into the four digits! Every dollar counts!

  • The deadline for the next Monthly Wine Writing Challenge (#MWWC33) is this Monday, June 5th! Thus far, there is only one entry (that I know of), so now is the time to get writing! The theme this go around, provided by last month’s winner Wining with Mel, is Once Upon a Time. All the details can be found HERE.
  • Last. There is still time to enter the Rodney Strong Master Blender Sweepstakes! You would certainly be remiss if you neglected to do so. The entry form is HERE and my write-up about the Sweepstakes can be found HERE.

Have a Happy Saturday!

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.

  1. a) Super bummed that I haven’t been able to do any blogging since the last MWWC, but am very excited to see what everyone else comes up with!
    b) We have a down day in Lisbon before taking off to Sintra and the Alentejo in August. Any recommendations for 12 hours in Lisbon?

    • I would try to take in a Fado show in Alfama or a glass of wine on one of the many beautiful squares (Commercio is impressive), or just go for a walk in one of the old neighborhoods. Hard to boil Lisbon down to 12 hours!
