Sundays Are For Sebastian #420

Sebastian is our seventeen-year-old son, and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.

A few weeks ago, we were visiting a potential college near Seattle…

Sebastian: “What are we doing tonight?”

Me: “I don’t know, grabbing dinner somewhere that has a decent wine list?”

Seba: “Can we go to the Sixers game?”

We are pretty loyal fans of the Philadelphia 76ers, it was near the end of the regular season and they were making a push for the playoffs.

Me: “Huh?”

Seba: “We can get tickets online. I bet they are pretty cheap.”

Me: “Huh? What are you talking about?”

Seba: “The Sixers! What are you a fake fan? They are playing Washington tonight.”

Me: “Is this a joke? You must be joking.”

Seba: “What? Is the stadium far from here?”

Me: “Only about 3,000 miles.”

Seba: “Huh?”

Me: “Maybe we should revisit this whole ‘college’ thing…”

The Washington Wizards play their home games in Washington D.C.

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
