One year ago today I published my first post here at The Drunken Cyclist and hopefully some of you have liked my ramblings. I have been rather sick for the last few days, but I am feeling a bit better today, so I decided to have a go at a trivia post.
First, we need to clean up last week’s quiz. There were really no single ‘right’ answers to last week’s quiz since many of the grapes listed are known by many names around the globe.
For today’s quiz, here are a list of several common varieties, you need to provide the less common name and the region associated with it.
- Mourvèdre–known as Mataró in Australia and Monastrell in Spain
- Malbec–known as Cot and Auxerrois in Cahors and Pressac in St. Emillion
- Chenin Blanc–has a ton of synonyms, notably Pineau de la Loire in France and Steen in South Africa
- Charbono–known as Bonarda in Argentina and Corbeau in the Savoie (France)
Thus we had several winners this time around: Vinoinlove, Frankkwine1982, and Talk-a-Vino. Thanks for playing everyone!
Well, this is the first day of the second year of this blog. I was not sure how long I would keep this up, but it has been fun (at least for me). So for this week’s quiz, I decided to go a little narcissistic and have the quiz about the blog itself. Without further ado….
- In what region did I lead a bike trip with Ohmygod?
- Where do I live?
- What is the acronym of the state controlled wine stores in my state?
- What was the first photo I posted and when was it?
- What is my preferred red wine variety?
Don’t be afraid to have fun with the quiz and make stuff up–points for originality!

Felicidades on your anniversary! I’ve noticed that a lot of bloggers run out of steam, or have other things that get in the way, and they quit blogging. Good for you! I would have answered the same at Anatoli, except for #4, which I would have drawn a blank on. Cheers!

The hell, I didn’t mean to play but you said I could make things up. So here we go:
1) From the story, it must have been Crazyland (or a mental institution)
2) On this blog, and in a spinning studio
3) YIKES (Yes I Know ‘Em Sucks)
4) I assume it featured a bike and boxes of champagne
5) Zinfandel (vinified as white zin and drunk at room temperature, preferably from a magnum bottle)

Not good ones for we relative newbees, and without looking at the knowledgeable ones who have commented, I do remember you are in Pennsylvania, home of the PLCB, & I believe Pinot Noir is your favorite.
