Sebastian is my six-year old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.
I was perusing my notes from the last few years, and here is another gem from this time last year:
After being sick all weekend, spending all day Christmas Eve with the boys downtown, and staying up late last night wrapping presents, I needed a nap this afternoon. Since Nathan is now sick, my wife only had to occupy Sebastian for about an hour so I could grab a power nap. We both alerted him to stay out of our bedroom.
After ten minutes, Sebastian charges upstairs.
Sebastian: “Daddy? Daddy?! DADDY?!?”
Me: “Yes?”
Sebastian: “I am not up here to wake you up! I just need to go pee!”

Gotta love the boy! Very considerate and well-behaved!

My son is 7 years older than his sister. Even so, when I would sneak out of the living room to go to the bathroom, or walk from my bedroom to the bathroom their radar was up and they’d both sit outside the door and have to talk to me about something, anything, but they had to talk to me. When I emerged the universe fell back into place. Came the time when my son left home and wouldn’t you know many calls from him came while I was in the bathroom. He’d swear he didn’t know…
You’ll be writing a long time…. 🙂
“Are you asleep?” “No, not yet…”
