Well, last week’s basketball season got off to a fairly good start, at least for Sebastian’s team. The little knucklehead is one of the youngest players on the team, but he scored eight points and the team won 24-10. Nathan’s team lost a heart-breaker 28-27. We were down three with 7 seconds left and we got off a shot that was originally called a three-pointer by one official, but the other official correctly noted that his toe was on the line, so we ended up losing by one. Hopefully today will be a better outcome.
I only have two reminders today, so I thought I would add a little something different as well (number 3 below):
- The new theme for the next Monthly Wine Writing Challenge was put forth by this month’s winner, Jill of L’Occasion. The deadline is still a few weeks off, but you should start the ruminating over “Second Chance.” All the details are HERE.

- Last week’s Wine Dinner at Fare Restaurant was an apparent hit, and we have already made the date for the next one: January 20th. This go around, the wines will all come from the Lodi Appellation in Northern California, which was recently named Wine Spectator’s Wine Region of the Year. Once again, there will be five courses, each paired with its own wine. The cost for the dinner is $75 (plus tax and tip, so $96 total) but space is limited this go around to 20 people! So call now to make a reservation: (267) 639-3063.
- Saturday Showcase: I am stealing this idea from a group of bloggers that are doing the same thing on Sundays, but since I already have something planned for Sundays (at least for now), I thought I would add it in here. The idea is a great one: throw some light on some of the other blogs that I find particularly enjoyable. I subscribe to a ton of blogs, but only have time to read through a few each day, but one that I will always read is The Food And Wine Hedonist. I kid John that he rarely writes about wine (despite it figuring prominently in the title of the blog), but I love his irreverent, sometimes risqué style and always find it entertaining. If you have not yet, you should certainly check it out!

Have a great Saturday folks!

Thanks for sharing the FWH blog. I like his style!

I’m with you on John- both your blogs are among the few that I don’t just skim through 😉

Yeah, but you have never met John, so I still win, right? 🙂

I’m not sure how meeting me makes anyone a winner… Winegetter will probably agree

Go slowly, it has been a while. No one wants you to pull a hammy or anything….
