As I have mentioned here before, our immediate area, including our neighborhood, was not overly affected by Harvey. Over the course of the last few days, I have been able to get out on my bike a bit and have ridden around in several areas in northwest Houston and things are really drying out. The clean-up and recovery, however, will take some time, but the people of this town and state have really been coming together to help each other. I have to say, seeing that was perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the storm.
Thank you again for all of your comments, texts, calls, and direct messages during the storm which lasted five days.
Today, I just have a couple of reminders for you:
- I have received many requests over the last few days about information regarding charities that are providing assistance to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. While there are many worthy outlets, I have set up a donation page with Texas Children’s Hospital to help the families with extremely sick children whose homes have been severely damaged by the storm. 100% of the donations go directly to the families (full disclosure: my wife is the Director of the Palliative Care team at the hospital). LINK.
- The latest Monthly Wine Writing Challenge is up and running. All of the information can be found HERE.
Have a Safe Saturday!
