While I am not technically on the road this week I am out of the house at an AAU basketball tournament with Sebastian. For those not familiar, I believe they form part of Dante’s Eighth Circle. Anyway, I thought I would repost this version of Sundays Are For Sebastian from six years ago:
Sebastian is my six-year old and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.
Seba:” Will I have time after dinner to play on the computer?”
My wife: “No, it’s a school night—you know the rule: no screen time.”
Seba: “Well, how about some free time?”
Tam: “No, don’t you remember what happened this morning? You were mean to everyone because you were so tired when I woke you up to go to school. So, I think that you should go to bed earlier so that you are not so grumpy in the morning.”
Seba: “Bad idea! I don’t want to go to bed earlier.”
Tam: “But you need more sleep.”
[Pause]
Seba: “Well, duh, just wake me up later!”
Tam: “That’s not possible, you have to get to school. I think you should go to bed 20 minutes earlier.”
Seba: “20 minutes?!? Pick another number!”
Tam: “OK, how about 15?”
[Pause]
Seba: “14!”
Tam: “OK, 14.”
[Pause]
