Sebastian is our thirteen-year-old son and he says some of the funniest things–we have no idea where he gets his material since his mother and I are rather boring, serious people.
Sebastian is currently in eighth grade and attends a school that continues on through the 12th grade. Should he/we decide to keep him in the same school (long story), part of the high school curriculum is the International Baccalaureate (IB). In short, students choose three or more subjects that they will study more in depth, for two years (these are referred to as HL or Higher Level) courses.
Sebastian’s older brother just graduated and his HL courses were physics, math, English, and French.
While that decision does not occur until the beginning of the 11th grade, I decided I would plant the seed with Sebastian, to get him at least thinking about it….
Me: “Have you decided what subjects you might want to consider for your HL courses?”
Seba: “Nope.”
Me: “Well, math would certainly be one, right?”
Seba: “Can you HL in gym?”
