Sundays Are For Nathan #13

While this space is usually used to recount the utterances of our younger son, Sebastian, today the quip is from our older boy. Nathan now 18, is 6’4″ (he claims 6’5″), a freshman in college, and finds his parents to be extremely un-cool. Nathan is home for winter break (he flies back later this afternoon) which produced several gems over the last couple of weeks…

Me: “Who was the 1st president born in a hospital?”

Nathan: “Washington.”

Me: “No.”

Nathan: “Adams?”

Me: “No.”

Nathan: “You just want me to keep going down the line?”

Me: “It was Carter.”

Nathan: “Jimmy Carter? What?? That was relatively recent, right? He was president, like, in the 60s?”

Me: “Actually, it was the 70s.”

Nathan: “What? He’s still alive, right? So where were the rest born? In the back of a van? What the hell?”

About the drunken cyclist

I have been an occasional cycling tour guide in Europe for the past 20 years, visiting most of the wine regions of France. Through this "job" I developed a love for wine and the stories that often accompany the pulling of a cork. I live in Houston with my lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
